Haworthia info

Haworthia is a genus of small succulents from southern Africa. Almost all of them grow in South Africa but one genus can also be found in Namibia (H. tessellata).

There are some new names/combinations of Haworthias in the offer to make certain system in the offer (although it can make a confusion as well). I combined Bruce Bayer’s classification to group related plants and then there is Ingo Breuer’s name in inverted commas (if available). So all of the arachnoidea like plants are under name arachnoidea -> 

• arachnoidea var. nigricans ‘venteri’
• arachnoidea var. setata ‘kogmanensis’
• arachnoidea ‘cangoensis’

cooperi-like under cooperi ->

• cooperi var. dielsiana ‘joeyae’
• cooperi var. gracilis ‘venetia’
• cooperi var. isabellae

etc. The best is to check my number (under picture) or collection number to find out if you have that plant or not – these numbers are and will be still the same.

There is also a new division of former genus Haworthia according to Manning et al. (2014), where genus Haworthia was splitted to Haworthia, Haworthiopsis and Tulista.

Thus species from

• subgenus Haworthia (arachnoidea, cooperi, mirabilis etc.) stay under genus Haworthia,
• species of subgenus Hexangularis (limifolia, koelmaniorum, coarctata, sordida etc.) are now under a new genus Haworthiopsis
• species from subgenus Robustipedunculares (maxima, minima, marginata, kingiana) are now under a new genus Tulista.
